CLC Winter School 2020

The local will be electing three (3) members to attend Canadian Labour Congress Winter School training at Harrison Hot Springs in the new year. The local will pay the registration fee, which includes room and board and wages for one week.

Local union policy requires, among other things, that applicants have attended a minimum of four General Membership meetings in the current year to be eligible to attend Winter School. Those who attended last year are not eligible to apply this year.

If you are eligible and interested in taking a labour studies course please respond BY FAX to 604-876-5687 or via email to: judithsmith@telus.net BY TUESDAY OCTOBER 29, 2019. The three members will be chosen by vote at the General Membership meeting on November 2, 2019.

K-12 Presidents’ Council Approves Provincial Framework Agreement

K-12 Presidents Council approves provincial framework agreement

September 28, 2018

RICHMOND — The K-12 Presidents Council voted this week to recommend the provincial framework agreement negotiated with the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) in mid-July. Support staff locals will table the provincial framework agreement with their proposals in bargaining with their respective school districts.

“I’d like to thank the provincial bargaining committee for their hard work and dedication that helped us reach this agreement,” said K-12 Presidents Council President Warren Williams. “Support workers in K-12 provide services that students in B.C. schools rely on every day.”

The agreement includes benefit increases and language that helps address workplace issues and includes support for local bargaining.

The current K-12 agreement expires on June 30, 2019. When ratified by Support staff locals and school districts, the provincial agreement will be in effect from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.
