Certification renewal for power engineers, operators and safety awareness certificate holders- Deadline for Renewal December 2, 2018

Due to recent changes to the Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation to align BC with other Canadian jurisdictions, power engineer, operator and safety awareness certificates of qualification must now be renewed.

Benefits of Renewing

· certification will remain valid

· inclusion in a database of active qualified individuals in good standing

· reduction of identity falsification in the industry

· ability to receive important safety information (e.g., new directives, changes to regulations)

· proof of your qualification for current and prospective employers

There is no fee for renewal applications received before December 2, 2018. If not renewed, certificates become invalid after December 2, 2018 and may require a reinstatement fee for activation.

Renewal applications must be submitted by December 2, 2018. If certificate holders do not renew before December 2, 2018, the certificate will expire and not be valid. Please apply for renewal early to avoid service delays that may be caused by high volumes. All certificates renewed before the deadline will be valid until the first day of the certificate holder’s birth month in 2021.

Once expired, the certificate holder is not legally permitted to work and will then need to apply for reinstatement, which may include a reinstatement fee.
